Worker bees collect nectar, mix it with natural enzymes, and store it in beeswax honeycomb cells, where it gradually ripens as excess moisture evaporates. The finished honey serves as the colony’s primary food source, providing energy throughout the year, especially during winter when flowers are scarce. Beyond its importance to bees, honey has been treasured by people for thousands of years as a natural sweetener, a culinary ingredient, and a traditional remedy. Because its flavor, color, and aroma are influenced by the flowers visited by the bees, every jar of honey tells the unique story of the local landscape and the season in which it was produced.
